IDP number continues to increase
The fighting between the coalition forces of ethnic resistance organizations in northern Shan State and the junta has intensified since October 26, and about 25,700 people have been displaced from their homes, according to UN-OCHA.
There are more than 23,000 people fleeing the war in nine of the 22 townships in the Northern Shan region, and the number has reached more than 37,400. Due to the fighting the traffic routes have been blocked by both forces and communication lines have been cut. Although community-based social organizations and local residents are providing support to IDPs in North Shan region, their ability to support IDP is becoming increasingly limited.
