Chinland Council Vows to Identify and Punish Violators of the Prisoner-of-War Code of Conduct
On June 27, the Chinland Council stated that videos showing defence forces within the council committing offences against prisoners of war captured on the front line, in violation of the military code of conduct under the Geneva Conventions, were spreading on social media, and that it would continue to investigate and take punitive action.
The announcement, issued as No. 5/2024, said the defence forces taking part in the council have already been instructed and trained by their respective units to be especially aware of and comply with the military code of conduct. The council includes the Chin National Front (CNF), Chin members of parliament, and township and locally based organizations.
