Interim Chin National Consultative Council
Established on April 13, 2021, the Interim Chin National Consultative Council (ICNCC) is dedicated to managing political affairs on behalf of Chin state and its people.
Comprising the Chin National Front, political parties, parliamentarians from the 2020 state election who did not cooperate with the military council, CDM employees, strike committees, civil society organizations, as well as youth and women, ICNCC was formed with the goal of revolting against dictatorship, ensuring self-determination and equality for Chin State, and constructing a federal democratic union state.
Document numbered 1/2021 outlines ICNCC's commitment to building a Chin State Government, enacting legislation, administration, and justice affairs, and contributing representatives to the formation of the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) and National Unity Government (NUG).
Beginning in September 2021, the junta fired heavy weapons against Thantlang, Chin State, and burned down residentials, church, and other religious buildings, and the ICNCC released a statement about war crimes by the military council, calling the UNSC to convene the special meeting and to provide humanitarian assistances. ICNCC released statements against the military junta's crimes. Collaborations with the NUG have taken place, and in their one-year anniversary statement, ICNCC mentioned coordinating with stakeholders to establish the Chin Charter and Chin Land Government.
They've announced initiatives such as Spring Revolution Special Treasury Bonds for the Chin regions and recognized interim education activities, planning to develop Chin State education policies in coordination with NUG's Ministry of Education.
ICNCC formed Single Text Draft Working Committee on 30 May, 2022. It also said it will consult widely with Chin revolutionary forces.
On 29 June, 2022, it announced its recognization of Interim Public Administration. On 10 January, 2023, the junta attacked Chin National Front Headquarters Camp Victoria in airstrikes. ICNCC delivered defiant statement on the same day, saying it would even strengthen the commitment of the Chin people to fight against the junta.
On 20 February, 2023, on Chin National Day, ICNCC called for mutual respect, recognition and necessity of Chin people.
On 4 April, 2023, CNF communicated its central executive committee's decision to withdraw from ICNCC, ahead of its second anniversary on 15 April.
Acknowledging public frustrations, ICNCC vowed to make necessary changes for improvement and urged continued vigilance in pursuit of Chin State's aspirations.
ICNCC is a member organization of the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC).
