KIO announces the Dissolution of the Kachin Special Region (1)

KIO

The Central Committee of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) announced that the Kachin Special Region 1 which was to maintain the power of successive military dictatorships, was abolished as of November 28.

The declaration was made after the KIA captured the town of Kan Paik Ti, the last remnant of the former Kachin Special Region (1), which Zahkung Ting Ying led on November 20.

It is stated that it was captured to ensure that not only the Kachin people, but also the ethnic people in the Kachin region live together as equals without division, and would strive to establish a policy and development based on humanitarianism without sacrificing the socio-economic life of the people, and also all the people and investors who were living in the administration of Special Region (1) to cooperate with KIO without fear and to build a comprehensive development together.
