With the 1027 operation, the Arakan Army (AA) began a series of offensives that included sieges of military bases and towns. On February 24, 2024, Buthidaung was attacked, and completely captured on May 18.
The Central Committee of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) announced that the Kachin Special Region 1 which was to maintain the power of successive military dictatorships, was abolished as of November 28. The declaration was made after the KIA captured the town of Kan Paik Ti, the last remnant of the former Kachin Special Region (1), which Zahkung Ting Ying led on November 20.
The terrorist military junta issued a statement on September 26 offering the Ethnic Resistance Organizations (EROs) and the People's Defense Forces (PDFs) to solve political problems politically. This is the second such offer since the terrorist coup d'état on February 1, 2021, and the first being made in April 2022 by the leader of the terrorist junta, himself on television. The difference is that the offer was made this time when military camps and military headquarters of the military regime including the cities were being surrendered because of the operations of EROs and PDF.
Military junta intentionally bombarded Munglai Hkyet IDP Camp near Laiza in Kachin State at 11 pm on 9 October 2023. The indiscriminate attack killed 31 internally displaced persons (IDP) including 13 children and injured more than 20. Most of the deceased are women and girls in the attack that destroyed 50 shelters.
