Women Advocacy Coalition – Myanmar

Women's Advocacy Coalition – Myanmar (WAC Myanmar) is a coalition of women's rights activists, women peacebuilders, and organizations and networks working on women's rights in Myanmar.  

WAC-M's goal is to end all military dictatorship and to build a gender-responsive federal democracy.  WAC Myanmar has issued statements, position papers, and closed and open letters to regional and international officials. Its members also continue to take part wherever possible to advocate in a timely way on the situation of women and gender equality in Myanmar.  

On March 8, 2022, it issued its 2022 International Women's Day statement, "Stop Taking Sides Now, Uproot Dictatorship". On June 19, 2022, the International Day for the Elimination of Sexual Violence in Conflict, it called on everyone to work together to ensure effective punishment of perpetrators of sexual violence and to end impunity. On February 1, 2023, it issued a statement on the second anniversary of the people's Spring Revolution. On March 6, 2023, it also took part in the 67th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. On March 8, 2023, it issued "WAC-M's Research Findings Press Release Marking International Women's Day 2023", calling for action and punishment under domestic and international law, and for accountability, for human rights violations, including sexual violence, committed in many ways against women and various groups by the terrorist military council during its attempted coup.

WAC-M cooperates with groups taking part in the revolution and is a member organization of the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC).
