YPDF and AA warned to immediately stop self-indulgence in the name of the group
The Yaw Region People's Defence Force (YPDF) and the Arakan Army (ULA/AA) have announced that, because people are using their organizations' names for personal gain to trade arms and ammunition, transport and sell natural resources, and demand and collect money in their base areas and areas of military operation, such unauthorized activities must stop immediately, and that anyone who continues will face action under their established constitution, orders and directives.
The YPDF warning, signed by the Central Executive Committee and dated July 3, states that the force has never (never) imposed levies, collected protection money, kidnapped, robbed, set up toll gates or committed abuses for revolutionary funds, but has steadfastly carried out the revolution with dignity, and that it "will take effective action."
On July 2, the Arakan Army (ULA/AA) announced that, taking advantage of intense fighting as it carries out an offensive against the terrorist junta in Thandwe Township, Rakhine State, some people are using its name to fraudulently demand and collect money from hotel and tourism business owners around Thandwe and Ngapali, and warned that this must stop immediately. The ULA/AA told the public that it does not do such things, and urged them to contact its central headquarters and the Thandwe regional officer directly if there are further threats or extortion attempts.
