Arrest Orders Issued by Argentina for Military Officials and 22 Accused in Genocide Case

The military leaders of the Myanmar army who seized power through the genocide of the Rohingya people, including General Min Aung Hlaing, the Commander-in-Chief, and Deputy Commander-in-Chief General Soe Win, along with 23 other top military leaders, have been issued arrest warrants by the Argentine court in Buenos Aires on February 13, according to an announcement made by the UK-based Burmese Rohingya Organization UK (BROUK) on February 14.

The request to investigate the genocide and crimes against humanity committed against the Rohingya people was made by Latin American human rights organizations to the Argentine court in November 2019. After five years, due to substantial evidence, the arrest warrants have now been issued.

The BROUK statement mentions the names of the two military leaders who have been issued arrest warrants, but it does not include the names of the other individuals.
