In Kachin State, the Kachin Political Interim Coordination Team (KPICT) was formed by five local and diaspora Kachin organizations after meetings on 9-11 March 2021, and announced its formation with 15 members on 15 March.

Representatives of the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) are also included in KPICT and the Acting President of NUG was nominated by KPICT.

On 27 March, 2021, KPICT signed an agreement with Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw on formation of interim Kachin government.
