Completely captures of Western Military Command (Ann), Mindat, and Kanpetlet

ULA/AA

In the third week of December, the Arakan Army (AA) and the Chin Brotherhood (CB) fully captured the terrorist junta's Western Regional Military Command headquarters in Ann Township, Rakhine State, and the towns of Mindat and Kanpetlet in Chin State.

After the AA captured the Western Command headquarters based in Ann on December 20, it also took full control of Ann town. The AA has now captured 14 towns in Rakhine State and Chin State, including Paletwa, and also captured alive the Western Command's (Ann) chief of staff, Brigadier General Kyaw Kyaw Than, and deputy commander, Brigadier General Thaung Tun.

The Western Regional Military Command is the second regional military command headquarters the terrorist junta has lost in 2024. On August 3, the Kokang MNDAA and allied forces fully captured the Northeastern Regional Military Command headquarters based in Lashio, Shan State.

In Operation Chin Brotherhood (Operation CB), the Chin Brotherhood and its allies, the Yaw Defense Force (YDF), the Yaw Army (YA) and People's Defence Force Monywa District Battalion 3, fought the battle to capture Mindat and fully captured it on December 21. On December 22, the CB announced the start of the battle to capture Kanpetlet; armed groups under the terrorist junta in the town withdrew without fighting, and the town was fully captured on December 23.
