January 20, 2024

The Progressive Voice (PV) was formed in October 2016. PV was born out of Burma Partnership, a network of organizations throughout the Asia-Pacific region, advocating for and mobilizing a movement for democracy and human rights in Myanmar that was established in 2006.

Progressive Voice envisions a federal democratic Myanmar that is free of discrimination and upholds the principles of peace, justice, self-determination and human rights.

It is a civil society-based, and it is also participatory and rights-based policy research and advocacy organization focused on promoting the voices from the ground at local and international levels.

Progressive Voice focuses on three main thematic policy areas, which are Governance Reforms, Rule of Law and Sustainable Development.

Based on Burma Partnership’s existing strengths, networks and values as well as the changing political and civil society landscape, the publication of research reports based on rights and public participation has been done continuously since PV's inception until today.

In addition, PV released the signing request and open letter for the international recognition of the crimes and genocides committed by the government of the country. And PV also published a special survey on the contents of the risk of international projects that may affect the interests of the country. Furthermore, PV organized the civil society organizations and issued petitions to the United Nations and international governments.
