Political prisoners in Monywa Prison decided to make a hunger strike because of raids of non-prison guard soldiers and polices on the morning of September 8, according to a statement released by Monywa People's Strike Steering Committee (MPSSC).

They captured clothing, food and books of the political prisoners and prison authorities also denied to return them to respective owners after the raid.
