Technological Teachers' Federation
The Technological Teachers' Federation (TTF) was founded on August 7, 2017. The TTF is freely formed by teachers, researchers and staff at technological universities, computer universities and related research departments across Myanmar. Its founding purposes are: to help support the development of a modern education system competitive regionally and internationally in engineering, technology and science; to help support the implementation of the National Education Strategic Plan (2016–2020); to help improve the social lives and quality of teachers, researchers and staff; to help ensure that teachers, researchers and staff receive the rights they deserve and suffer no grievances; to support teachers, researchers and staff in freely expressing their views; and to help in connecting with regional and international organizations on education matters.
The TTF received its domestic association registration certificate on January 19, 2018. Its first conference was held on November 17, 2018, at Mandalay Technological University, where the central executive was elected. On January 21, 2021, it announced the formation of the central executive and executive committee for its second term, but postponed the second conference because COVID-19 vaccinations were being arranged.
On February 1, 2021, it issued a statement strongly objecting to and condemning the military coup. It also joined the joint position statement of Myanmar teachers' unions. Under the slogan "All united with the red ribbon, working together for the people", it urged all education families, all civil servants and everyone opposed to authoritarian injustice and restrictions to simultaneously take part in the Red Ribbon Campaign (RRC).
On February 5, 2021, it issued a statement strongly objecting to and condemning unjust arrests and detentions over the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM). On February 6, 2021, it appealed to all civil servants to take part in the non-violent movement against injustice (Civil Disobedience Campaign-CDC/Civil Disobedience Movement-CDM) from February 8, 2021. On February 7, 2021, it also issued an appeal for soldiers and police to join the CDM. On February 8, 2021, the TTF issued a statement calling on people to oppose all directives issued by the coup government and its proxies, to object to any soft or forceful pressure on the CDC/CDM and expressions of dissent, to work together with monks, the public and students, to reject violence of any kind, and to oppose all injustice and defy all authority. On February 9, it announced that all supporters of dictatorship would be permanently expelled from the federation. On February 22, 2021, it issued a statement on the Civil Disobedience Movement (CDM), referring to the provisions in Chapter (4), Section (10) of the Civil Service Law on civil servants prioritizing the interests of the state and citizens and respecting the public.
On March 31, 2021, it announced its full support for the Federal Democracy Charter and that it would follow the administration of the National Unity Government. It also welcomed the abolition of the 2008 Constitution. Then, on December 20, 2021, together with the General Strike Committee of Basic and Higher Education (GSCBHE), the Representative Committee of University Teachers' Associations (RC of UTAs), the Basic Education Workers' Unions – Strike Committee (BEWU-SC), the Basic Education General Strike Committee (BEGSC), the Myanmar Teachers' Federation (MTF) and the Technological Teachers' Federation (TTF), it formed the Education Coordination Committee.
The Federal Education Coordination Network, in which the TTF takes part, organized and held the one-year Spring Revolution CDM Education Staff Conference on January 25–26, 2022. On March 27, 2022, it announced that, to boost and strengthen CDM movements through cooperation between education and health CDM forces and to better support CDM staff's needs, it had formed the CDM Movement and Struggle Promotion Cooperation Committee so that organizations working on CDM affairs with common goals can join together.
On August 24, 2022, the Federal Democratic Education Coordination Network (FDECN), which includes the TTF, joined the black ribbon movement "Opposing Prison Violence, Unlawful Killings and the Death Penalty for Political Prisoners, and Standing with the Struggles Inside Prisons". On January 11, 2023, it also jointly issued, with other partner organizations, a statement urging the CDM Policy to be approved as soon as possible.
The TTF is also a member organization of the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC).
