Student Armed Force

The Student Armed Force was founded on April 27, 2021, led by 22 members of the Yangon-based All Yangon University Students' Unions (ASU), with assistance from the Arakan Army.

Its political principles are (1) the complete destruction of dictatorship, (2) the successful establishment of a new state, and (3) the full achievement of the self-determination of each ethnic group and the freedom, justice and equality of each citizen.

Its vision is to be a good force for all oppressed people striving to build a new state and to determine their own destiny, by promoting public peace and stability, and on this basis it has set four missions.

Its first 22 core members began their first military training in the liberated area of an allied ethnic armed organization. The force separates political and military functions into a Central Committee Office and a Central Military Office, and keeps its battalions and units under political leadership. Its chief of staff is "Okkar", and although it has not disclosed where its headquarters is, its military statements show that it carries out operations together with other armed forces in Sagaing and Magway regions.

On the question of building a new state, it published the short paper "There Was No Union in This Country" on February 8, 2022.

Among its political and military cooperation with allied forces, it met the BPLA on November 10, 2022, and agreed to cooperate more closely.

In addition to political and military matters, the Student Armed Force also provides public health services, opening community-based free clinics in the areas where it operates and running mobile treatment in nearby villages.
