Chin Civic Movement

The Chin Civic Movement is a people-based movement jointly carried out by people who led and took part in strikes against military dictatorship, student forces, women's rights activists, Chin civil society organizations and activists, and students abroad.

The movement began on January 6, 2024, and was formed with the aim of becoming a public space to jointly seek solutions to Chin State's affairs.

Its activities include holding "public movement discussions on solving the Chin political crisis", and "urging the relevant groups to negotiate solutions so as not to divide the Chin nation in matters concerning the whole Chin nation, such as the constitution, and collecting public opinion".

In Chin State today, in addition to long-standing ethnic armed forces, region- and ethnicity-based armed forces that emerged during the Spring Revolution also exist, and a common political agreement accepted by all Chin ethnic groups has not yet been reached.

The CCM has not specified which organizations are part of it, but its statement issued on January 25, 2024, "Appeal to Resolve Conflicts Among Chin Revolutionary Forces Fighting the Terrorist Military Through Dialogue and Negotiation", was signed and endorsed by organizations and 545 individuals.

On February 1, 2024, the third anniversary of the terrorist junta's coup, it also issued a two-point appeal to Chin revolutionary forces and the Chin people. It noted that although Chin revolutionary forces have achieved considerable military success, there are challenges in the political sphere, and to overcome them it urged the forces to look to the Chin people's future and meet and seek solutions as soon as possible only through peaceful means, and urged Chin people inside and outside the country to help ensure that differences among the forces do not harm unity among the Chin people and to help strengthen that unity.
