12th ABSDF conference announces political stance and position
The All Burma Students' Democratic Front (ABSDF) issued five political goals and six positions from its 12th conference, stating that it will fight with armed struggle as its main form, combined with other forms of struggle.
The conference was held from November 1 to 17 and set political goals including ending the military's involvement in politics, reforming it and placing it under civilian government, and drafting and enacting a new constitution based on federalism and democracy acceptable to all stakeholders.
The conference also reconstituted the Central Committee. The ABSDF also set out its position that it will not attend any talks if the political goals adopted at the conference are not accepted and violence continues, and that it will not accept a change of system into a dictatorial civilian government or a power-sharing arrangement among the politically privileged.
